Pergola Options

There are a number of styles of pergola and a variety of materials that can be used in their construction.

Our service is based around helping you style your pergola to your own needs and to select the materials that will most appropriately meet your aesthetic and other requirements.

Examples of styles and types

Structure types can include but are not limited to,

Lean to Verandah - The traditional Australian Verandah, suited for Australian homes built in the early 1900's and where height is not an issue.

Flat Verandah – Simple with clean lines this verandah is suitable for modern homes where height is an issue and there is no requirement for lots of light.

Gabled Verandah - The ultimate in outdoor living particularly when covered with a Laserlite roof. The gable verandah provides for an open and light area that has a magnetic charm that invites you to sit and enjoy.

Bullnose/Concave Verandahs - Providing the elegance and style of a bygone era.

Gazebos - Style and character ideally suited over spas or where area is odd shaped.

Flat Pergolas - When sun protection only is required. Can be covered with shadecloth or vines or left open.

Gabled Pergola - When looking for similar results as for the flat pergola but with style.

Sun smart Pergolas – The Environmental Pergola - You can use pergolas as a means of lessening the environmental impact of your home. Pergolas can be designed to allow for cooling your home in summer and warming it up in winter through the use of angled battens on your pergola which will allow entry of the sun’s light into your home during the winter months while acting as a block out during summer.

Timber Decks – Timber Decks add character, warmth and beauty to any outdoor living area and are undergoing a renaissance right now in Adelaide. Sunsafe Pergolas & Verandahs use only hardwood from sustainable forests for your decking. This can be painted either with a natural or stained finish or with sunfast acrylic paints.

Many different materials are available for Pergolas and Verandahs.

Timber Structures

For a longer lasting life and more environmentally friendly approach your Pergola or Verandah, or your timber deck will be built using timber in lieu of steel. Timber, correctly installed and painted, provides a low maintenance solution than steel structures which if not looked after properly can rust due to the impact of condensation.

Timber is also a significantly more environmentally friendly solution.

Sunsafe Pergolas & Verandahs use H3 treated LOSP (Liquid Organic Solvent Preservative) timber for most framing applications rather than timber treated with Chromium and Arsenic (Permapine).
